European Dream City
24-28 September 2010, Helsinki, Finland
The workshop takes place in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, which as a rapidly growing area, is facing similar challenges concerning sustainability as other European metropolitans. The agenda of the workshop is formed by presentations, discussion and study visits. The topics cover issues such as traffic, living, accessibility, energy etc., not forgetting the grass root level activity within all this. The special interests of the participants are taken into account while building the agenda. The most important is that the participants can share their ambitions, ideas and experiences concerning sustainable urban planning. The purpose is to form a network of activists who will stay in contact with each other also after the workshop. So, besides of their own contribution, everybody will get a bag of new ideas and contacts to bring back home!
The working methods of the workshop highlight discussion and dialogue between the participants and the experts of the field. During the workshop, the participants will also create a collage of "European Dream City", which will be presented to wider audience through the exhibition organised in the end of the workshop.
